About Karla Horst
Karla is a Colorado native now living in Littleton with her husband, two Marley dogs and a fat cat. She has been creative for as long as she can remember but has been serious with her painting the last 10 years, after she received an Associates Degree in Graphic Design and Illustration from Arapahoe Community College.
For Karla watercolor is her main focus but she also plays with mediums of acrylic, pastels, charcoal, pen & ink plus graphite. Her style uses a heavy vibrant saturation of color, most realistic representation with some of her work having a design quality and some abstract. She loves to paint a variety of subjects and she uses a variety of techniques.
Karla is a Signature Member of Colorado Watercolor Society and over the past seven years has been in numerous art shows with awards of Honorable Mention, Third and First Place. Karla is in two art galleries here in Colorado and hopes to be in one more by the end of the year.
Karla's muse is her life and all that she sees and experiences around her, from her travels in the world to her every day life, from scuba diving to the flowers in her garden. Karla is always finding a new view of life that she wants to capture and express in her art.
